Our Waste Treatment Facilities

ESA manages the following facilities as part of the RetiAmbiente Industrial Plan. As the official in-house service provider for the “Toscana Costa” area, we process waste from every municipality on Elba Island:

• The Buraccio Plant: Part of the RetiAmbiente network, it has a capacity of 30,000 tons per year. It is a key link in our recovery chain, handling both mixed (non-recyclable) and sorted (recyclable) municipal waste. The Buraccio site includes a mixed waste treatment plant, a bio-stabilisation plant (used for organic waste and fines from mechanical processing), and a storage center for sorted recyclables. Note: organic recovery production was paused in 2020 to minimize local impact.
• The Literno Plant: This facility includes a landfill and a COMIECO-certified platform specifically for processing paper and cardboard packaging.
